Impactful Health Solutions and Summer have changed our lives. As a physical therapist and mom, it is very scary when you don’t understand what is happening to your 20 year old child and feel you have nowhere to turn for answers.
Six months ago, my daughter Sophia, started with random panic attacks. One here and one there, which then morphed into something so much bigger. She was dizzy, could barely stand up without feeling like she was going to pass out, significant heart palpitations, left sided head and neck pain, difficulty swallowing, uncontrolled body movements, and the list goes on. She went from an overly active college student and horse rider, to not being able to get off the couch. Myself and her doctor thought it was anxiety/depression which she had been diagnosed with many years ago as a child and immediately she was put on Celexa. The medication was making things worse and we made the decision to take her off. During a session with her mental health counselor, my daughter was advised to get further imaging to determine if there was a more physical component to her symptoms.
My first call was to Summer Sanacore at Impactful Health Solutions. About a year ago, my daughters and I heard Summer share her story. My girls related to Summer’s story immediately as they too shared similar symptoms that Summer spoke of, but at the time just thought it was something you lived with.
Fast forward, I immediately called Summer and within minutes she put my mind at ease. She validated everything my daughter was experiencing and most importantly she told Sophia that she is not crazy and it is not anxiety. The anxiety was rooted in years of experiencing “weird” sensations in her body that she just chalked up as “having to live with” until her body couldn’t manage it any longer. Summer spent time talking with Sophia and asking questions that no other practitioner had every asked her. Things like have you had any falls in the past, have you hit your head before, have you suffered concussions, etc. Sophia is an equestrian for almost 14 years of her life so most of the answers were “yes.”
Within 1 day, Summer had a plan for Sophia. She knew just the right imaging that needed to be done, which practitioner we would see next, and so forth. What would have taken us months of improper diagnosing, wasted money, and more suffering for Sophia, took only a couple days. Summer is an ANGEL! She truly cares and helps you find answers quickly. I was diagnosed with Chiari malformation type 0 in 2021 which was acquired due to multiple episodes of neck trauma. I searched aimlessly for a diagnosis for years and desperately sought help from countless doctors with no success. It was not until I met Summer Sanacore that my situation started to make sense. The first time we spoke, we instantaneously connected, and I felt like I had known her for years. Summer is an angel on earth and has been a savior throughout this overwhelming navigation process to find the right doctor. Through Summer’s guidance, I was able to secure an appointment with arguably the best upper cervical chiropractor in the world. It was here that one chiropractic adjustment reversed my Chiari and relieved certain symptoms. It took a couple of adjustments, but I am thrilled to say that my spine has held its proper alignment for over one year and Summer was a driving force behind that.
Due to prior neck trauma from sports and accidents, I unfortunately still suffer from symptoms related to cervical instability, which is what the doctor believes is my primary problem. However, through further direction from the doctor and Summer, I secured an appointment with an additional physician to receive cervical stem cell treatment. I ironically just had the stem cell procedure this past week and from what I have learned, is a cutting-edge, transformative treatment. My medical team has been very positive and feels that I will get my normal life back. I have Summer to thank for all of this and I do not know where I would be had I not met her.
Guiding patients with any number of cervical problems is Summer’s passion because it stems from personal experience, and she has done a phenomenal job in not only spreading awareness about these insidious conditions but also serving as an outlet for patients to vent. She is a beaming light of hope and positivity in a dark world that can be filled with despair. The world needs more brave people like Summer who are not afraid to speak up about underdiagnosed, yet common medical conditions such as these, even while fighting their own battles. I am not finished with this journey yet, but thanks to my parents, Summer, and a great medical team, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. God has placed us in each other’s lives and whenever I catch myself having a moment of weakness, I think of Summer’s encouraging words, “You have got this, my friend.
